A27 Fontwell to Arundel – overnight closures for resurfacing
We’ll soon be resurfacing the A27 between Fontwell and Arundel. This will maintain safety and improve the journey for road users, while reducing the need for unplanned closures.
We’ll carry out our work in phases starting from the evening of Monday 15 January 2024. It will take us up to eight weeks.
This work will take place on weeknights, between 8pm and 6am, when there’s less traffic on the road.
For the first phase of our work we’ll be closing the A27 eastbound between the Fontwell East and Ford roundabouts weeknights, 8pm to 6am, from Monday 15 January for up to two weeks. A signed diversion will be in place via the A29 and A284.
We’ll start our work on the dual carriageway, but when we get to the single lane section between the junction with Long Lane and the Ford Roundabout, we’ll need to fully close the road in both directions. Once this section is complete, we’ll move to the westbound dual carriageway.
As we progress, we’ll be posting more information about where we’re working on our webpage:nationalhighways.co.uk/A27FontwelltoArundel.
This work is subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress.
We’re carrying out our work in short sections, to maintain access to homes and businesses on the A27. Please follow signs for access, or speak to the site team, as the direction you need to approach from may change as we progress. We’ll be posting details of where we’re currently working, including information about access, on our webpage.
For any properties within the working area, an escort will be provided, please approach the closure point. There could be a short wait while we make it safe for you to pass.
